workshop

Foundational to my teaching practice is material thinking through creative practice and practice-led research. Workshops are central to my teaching method, they are open-ended in terms of technique and materiality.

Relational aesthetics and connections between human and more-than-human beings, and a feminist ethics of care, consider agency through decolonizing methodologies to inform image-making for design.

Teaching online from home in Naarm/Melbourne, during the Covid-19 Pandemic. RMIT University Bachelor of Communication Design Program, Mythmakers Studio 2019

Paint-poetics workshop 2019. RMIT University Bachelor of Communication Design Program. Working alongside my students online. Dropping/pouring milk, ink and food dye into water. I placed a book behind the water in a glass container to see how the water might distort image + text, and interact when other liquids mix in water.

Salt and ink workhop 2019. RMIT University Bachelor of Communication Design Program. Working alongside students online. Online workshops, during Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns, provided an opportunity for everyone in the class to set up a space at home, working together remotely. One silver lining is that the work didn’t need to be packed away immediately to vacate the RMIT studios for the following class.

Incorporating an image I made in the salt and ink workshop, as a layer in ProCreate.

Icarus workshop 2022. RMIT University Bachelor of Communication Design Program

Working alongside my online students in our Mythmakers studio. Playing with collage, our inspiration was the story of Icarus. I had a stash of bits and pieces … glitter paper, printmaking remnants … I skip the glue, just move objects around, cut, place and photograph, repeat …
